Regional In-Country Cyber Awareness And Cyber Security Sensitization And Training 2023 In Paramaribo, Suriname

On Thursday, 09 February 2023, The Caribbean Community Implementation Agency for Crime and Security commenced its series of Regional In-Country Cyber Awareness and Cyber Security Sensitization and Training 2023 in Paramaribo, Suriname.
These Regional In-Country Cyber Awareness and Cyber Security Sensitization and Trainings aim to reduce the risk of cybercrimes and implement mechanisms to enhance cyber security in CARIFORUM Member States. Sessions are targeted towards Senior Officials, Ministers of Government, Parliamentarians, Policy Makers and the General Public.
Present at the opening ceremony were Mr. Chandrikapersad Santokhi, President of Suriname; Mr. Shivanand Ramlall, Director of the National Security Directorate (DNV) of Suriname; Mr. Earl Harris, Assistant Director, Strategic Services, CARICOM IMPACS; Mr. Dale Joseph, Cybercrime Policy Specialist, CARICOM IMPACS; Mr. Anselm Charles, Information and Communications Technology Manager, CARICOM IMPACS; and other specially invited guests.
#CARICOMIMPACS is engaged in the execution of an 11th European Union Development Fund (EDF) funded project entitled “Capacity Building for CARIFORUM Member States on Asset Recovery and Cybercrime”. The cybercrime component of the project seeks to enhance the detection and investigation of cybercrimes in CARIFORUM Member States in compliance with international standards, as well as facilitate the adoption of a regional approach to ensure regional collaboration on cybercrime.
Programme beneficiaries include Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and the Dominican Republic.
