CCLEC and CARICOM IMPACS Reinforce Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Regional and International Security efforts in the Caribbean Region

Bridgetown Barbados, 19 Sep 2023 — The Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC) and the Caribbean Community Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS) today held talks aimed at fortifying regional and international security efforts in the Caribbean Region.

Mr. Claude Paul, Permanent Secretary of CCLEC, together with his recently appointed Head of Joint Intelligence Office, Mr. Noel Paul, met with Lt. Col. Michael Jones, Executive Director of CARICOM IMPACS and Senior Agency officials.

The discussions held during this meeting centred around finding innovative ways to collaborate on matters of mutual interest and ways to advance regional security.

Key points of focus included:

Finalization of Supplementary MOU: Both organizations are actively working towards finalizing a draft Supplementary Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU is set to facilitate streamlining of information exchange and strengthening security across the region.

Enhanced Intelligence Sharing: Recognizing the power of shared information, CCLEC and CARICOM IMPACS are committed to establishing a robust framework for sharing of information and intelligence.

Cooperation and Collaboration: Both organizations are determined to enhance their levels of cooperation and collaboration. This includes exploring opportunities for joint operations and other initiatives that leverage their shared membership and common areas of interest.
