CARICOM IMPACS to participate in TW25

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS) will participate in Exercise Tradewinds 2025 (TW25), which takes place from April 26 to May 8 in Trinidad and Tobago.

TW25 is a United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) sponsored initiative, co-hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) and the United States Army South (USARSOUTH). Under the theme “Strengthening Regional Security and Resilience: Unified and Prepared for the Future”, the objectives of TW25 include:

  • Enhancing the Caribbean’s capacity to mitigate, plan for, and respond to crises;
  • Strengthening partnerships and countering malign influences;
  • Increasing regional training capacity and force readiness; and
  • Promoting integration among inter-agency, allied and partner nation forces. 

CARICOM IMPACS plays a pivotal role in all phases of TW, from concept development to execution and after-action review. Exercise contributions include, inter alia attending planning conferences, scenario and road to crisis development, intelligence analysis, hit alerts and intelligence reports, requests for information, threat assessments and security briefs, maritime domain awareness, Crime Gun Intelligence Unit (CGIU) and Cyber Fusion Unit (CFU) sensitisation, training for CARICOM law enforcement and national security professionals in intelligence analysis and OSINT, observation and assessment of exercises, daily exercise briefings, and hotwashes, highlighting CARICOM IMPACS’ multifaceted involvement.
