To enhance Maritime awareness capabilities within the Caribbean Basin through the provision of direct maritime awareness support to CARICOM Member States, Associate Members, the Dominican Republic and the Regional Security System (RSS).

OBJECTIVES:

1. To strengthen the Regional Maritime Unit within the Joint Regional Communications Centre (JRCC) and the Regional Intelligence Fusion Centre (RIFC) by increasing the number of trained personnel with the experience
2. To upgrade the current maritime awareness system to provide more targeted information and intelligence to regional Coast Guards, Maritime Units, Coast Guards and Fisheries Units.
3. To develop a sustainability plan, to include out-year purchase of Windward licenses and appropriate staffing of the maritime unit, to ensure the sustained maritime awareness within the Caribbean Basin in support of national and regional maritime operations awareness within the Caribbean Basin in support of national and regional maritime operations;
4. A monitoring and Evaluation Plan which will ensure the programme continues to meet the maritime operational requirements of countries, also in support of the sustainability plan

ACTIVITIES:

1. Establish Maritime Unit in CARICOM IMPACS
   This unit is to be staffed by suitably qualified persons from participating Member States to develop specific capacity within the maritime domain to support the requirements of Member States.
   
2. Purchase upgraded Windward Maritime Domain Awareness software license
   Acquire the software license for the upgraded Maritime Domain Awareness System for a two-year period.
3. Training in the upgraded Maritime Domain Awareness Platform
   
4. Develop Standard Operating Procedures to support the implementation of the Maritime Awareness Programme at CARICOM IMPACS and intelligence information sharing with participating Member States
   
5. Develop a Sustainability Plan to support maritime awareness within the Caribbean Basin inclusive of the support to be provided to the lead agency Caricom IMPACS
