Possessing over 25 years experience in port management, Colin Young joined the International Maritime Organization from February 2009 in the position of Regional Maritime Adviser, Caribbean, responsible for facilitating IMO’s input into national and regional development policies and providing active field-level participation in the development, execution and coordination of the delivery of IMO’s Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP).
At the Port of Port of Spain (PPOS), Trinidad, he held various positions in Finance, Human Resources, Strategic Planning and Cargo Handling Operations, the last being Port Operations Manager.
In 2005, he played a leading role in the implementation of PPOS’s Terminal Operating System for productivity improvement and real time container tracking. Industry specific activities included lecturing at the University of Trinidad and Tobago in its MSc. Maritime Management Programme and holding the position of Vice-Chairman Group B (Ports) of the Shipping Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
Colin holds an MSc. in Maritime Affairs from the World Maritime University, Sweden, specializing in Port Management, a BSc. Management Studies and a Certificate in Public Administration from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad.
