Brigadier General Timothy D. Brown assumed duties as Director of Intelligence – J2, U.S. Southern Command on 1 June 2019.

Brigadier General Brown received his commission through Army ROTC in June 1991. He has attended numerous military schools, including United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College; United States Army Command and General Staff College; Joint and Combined Warfighting School; and Senior Service College Fellowship, Harvard University.

Brigadier General Brown’s command and leadership assignments include Deputy Commander, United States Army Cadet Command; Commander, The United States Army Aviation Brigade, Fort McNair, Washington, DC; Commander, 1st Military Intelligence Battalion, United States Army Intelligence and Security Command, Germany, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan; and Detachment Director, Special Management Division; and Operation Iraq Freedom, Iraq.

Brigadier General Brown’s joint assignments include Military Assistance to the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, Washington, DC.

His personal decorations include Legion of Merit (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Master Army Aviator Badge, Office of the Secretary of Defense Identification Badge, and Army Staff Identification Badge.
