The Caribbean Community Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS) in partnership with the United States (US) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) conducted a three-day training course on firearms detection for customs and port officers from 14-16 May 2024, in Barbados.
The comprehensive training included both theoretical and practical sessions, focusing on techniques for searching containers and vehicles for concealed firearms and other illegal contraband.
A total of 21 officers from the Barbados Customs and Excise Department and Barbados Port Services attended the training. This initiative, facilitated by the CBP, aims to prepare the region for hosting the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World Cup.
